Our Story
Born from a love of water and a passion for kids
How Splash Academy began
Splash Academy was founded in 2018 by swim coach and mum-of-three Dana Reyes, after she struggled to find a swim school that felt truly child-centred — one where every instructor understood that a nervous toddler and an eager eight-year-old need completely different approaches.
She opened our first pool with two instructors, a philosophy built on patience and play, and a belief that water safety is one of the greatest gifts you can give a child. Six years later, Splash Academy has certified over 2,000 young swimmers and grown to a team of twelve passionate instructors.
We’re proud to be a local, independent school — every decision we make puts children and families first.
Our instructors are the heart of everything we do.
Every Splash Academy instructor holds a current Water Safety Instructor certification, a Working with Children check, and has completed our in-house child development training. Most of our team are swimmers themselves — they know what it takes, and they love passing it on.
What we believe
Safety is non-negotiable
Every session follows strict supervision ratios. Our pools are temperature-controlled, well-lit, and inspected weekly. We also teach water-safety skills — not just swimming technique.
Play is the best teacher
Children learn fastest when they’re having fun. Every class is designed around play-based activities that sneak in critical skills. If kids are smiling, they’re learning.
Every child’s pace is the right pace
We never rush a child through a level just to fill the next class. Progress reports every 8 weeks ensure parents and instructors stay aligned on each swimmer’s journey.
A parent’s perspective
“We tried two other schools before Splash Academy. The difference in how they treat the kids — and the parents — is night and day.”
